From Chapter 1... In this third volume, therefore, I will go into the fine structure of matter and energy in some detail. I will try to show how physical experimentation revealed a world beyond the direct reach of our senses, and how knowledge of that world has, in turn, lent more meaning to the ordinary world we can sense directly.
