The Other Girl

Allison and Leura were two girls working their way around the vast Australian outback. They didn't mind which way they went, so long as they found jobs as they went along in the car they had saved up and bought for their See-Australia venture. When the car broke down, out in the middle of nowhere, they were overtaken by a shearing team heading for their next station. The shearers had a problem—no cook; and when Allison and Leura heard about the big money that a shearers' cook earned . . . But only one cook was needed; and up to now, where one of them went, the other went also. Still, the shearers just had to have a cook; Union rules said: no cook—no shearing. They'd work something out. Or rather, Buck Ashe, the shearers' boss—he'd work something out. And when Allison and Leura looked at Buck Ashe .. .
